The Neo-Renaissance in Rome

The Neo-Renaissance in Rome

We will start from the medieval cloister and its garden of the basilica of St. John in Lateran and continue with villa Giustiniani where the Neo-Renaissance German artists, the Nazzareni, painted the most Medieval and Renaissance Italian letterature (Dante, Tasso, Ariosto): a mavellous treasure chest in Rome! We will continue with a special visit at the last monumental Royal Eclectic-style Palace built in Rome, Palazzo Brancaccio, to continue with the the little and precious Medieval mosaic-decorated chapel of Zeno, in the basilica of St. Praxedis. And last but not the least the marvellous Neo-gothic Episcopal church of St. Paul’s Within the Walls (first non-Catholic church ever built in Rome after the unification of Italy), symbol of the Americans in Rome, with its breathtaking mosaics by Burne-Jones and George W. Breck’s.

This tour is possible: on Tuesday, on Thursday, on Sunday mornings; and on Tusday and Thursday afternoon

The tour will last from four to five hours
